Katayama started her career as a fashion model after becoming a finalist of “Elite Model Look 1997 in Japan.

Katayama has featured on covers of fashion magazines, starred in commercials for ROLEX, Hysteric Glamour, and walked the catwalks of Paris, Milan, Tokyo for CHANEL, FENDI, and ARMANI.

In 2007, Katayama was chosen to star in Osamu MINORIKAWA’s film, “SEKAI HA TOKIDOKI UTSUKUSHII (Life Can Be So Wonderful)”. She showed exceptional presence in her debut as a leading actress.

In 2008, Katayama co-starred in the TV drama, “Ashitano Kita Yoshio – Sekaiichi Fuun Na Otoko No Kiseki No 11 Nichikan (Future of Kita Yoshio, the Miraculous 11Days of the Unluckiest Men in the World).”

In 2011, Katayama appeared in the stage production of “Kokumin Kasa (National Umbrella)”, directed by Ryo IWAMATSU. She co-starred TV’s drama “Douki” on the WOWOW channel. She also co-starred in “Gekijyouban Shinnsei Kamattechan Rokkunnro-ru Ha Nariyamanai” a movie by Yu IRIE, “Tantei Ha Ba- Ni Iru (A Detective is at a Bar)” by Hajime HASHIMOTO, and “Gokudou Meshi (Wicked meal)” by Testu MAEDA.

In 2012, Katayama stars as the heroine in Koji WAKAMATSU’s movie, “Kaien Hoteru Buru- (Petrel Hotel Blue)”.

Upcoming film works include a co-starring role in “Sennen No Yuraku (The Millennial Rapture)” by Koji WAKAMATSU (to be released fall 2012).
